Welcome to 1st grade Sommer Stallions! My name is Amber Subhani and I am so excited to be your child's teacher this year!
I have a Masters in Early Childhood Education from Texas State University. I am certified to teach Pre-K - 4th grade, ESL certified and TAG trained as well. This is my 6th year teaching and 1st at Patsy Sommer, I was previously teaching at Jollyville Elementary. I have experience teaching Pre-K, Kindergarten and 2nd grade. I am thrilled to now teach 1st grade this year!
On a personal note, I am so glad to call the beautiful city of Austin home. Prior to living in Austin I was a military child and have lived in several states and overseas as well. I now have a wonderful husband and two lovely daughters. My daughters are now in 2nd and 3rd grade and have attended Sommer since Kindergarten. We enjoy traveling, hiking, and watching sports together. Personally I try to carve out time for sewing and crafting whenever I can.
I believe having the opportunity to experience various school settings in different countries growing up has drawn me to a career as an educator. I often reflect on these experiences and use them to relate to my students. I look forward to forming a partnership with you and helping your child grow academically, socially and emotionally this year.
