Dear Family,
Last week I sent home a baggy with a letter
inside asking you to send in a soil sample to school with your child.
These will be used during science class. All are due no later
than November 12. Please do not send in any mud. Thanks so
much!
Also due on Monday is the timeline project!
Next Week...
Math: Students
will continue with subtraction, focusing on writing number sentences and
understanding the bigger number is written first. They will write subtraction
sentences using various tools as models (dominoes, dice, pictures). Students
will also visualize subtraction stories in their head and act out/model their
thinking.
Science: Students will continue their study of physical properties of
objects by observing, comparing, describing, and sorting the components of soil
by size, texture and color.
Reading: Students will learn what an inference is and begin making
inferences throughout their books.
Writing: This
is the last week of How-To writing. Students will publish and share their
How-To.
Balanced Literacy: In Social Studies, we will be talking about different
customs and traditions and will be presenting our timeline projects. In
Phonics, we will be recognizing and reading known words and using letter-sound
relationships to monitor word-solving accuracy.
